The best gift you can give your child this Children’s Day

Children's Day, a day dedicated to honoring the purest and most imaginative aspirations of our youth, serves as a poignant reminder that every child harbors a dream that holds the potential to shape their future.Parents, recognizing the significance of these dreams, often become the wind beneath their children's wings, endeavoring to provide the necessary support, guidance, and financial resources to transform their ambitions into reality. This heartwarming journey of nurturing children's dreams and helping them take a flight embodies the very essence of Children's Day and the powerful bond between parents and their cherished little dreamers.

Illustrating the above, below is a conversation between a Mom and her Son:

Mom I have dreams!

Son: Mom, I had the most incredible dream last night. I dreamt that I became an astronaut and was floating among the stars.

Mom: That sounds amazing, sweetheart! Your dream reminds me of how inspired you were when the latest space mission was launched and how you followed the news of landing on the moon. You were so captivated by space exploration.

Son: Yes, Mom the mission inspires me to dream big, to explore the unknown and reach for the stars.

Mom: I'm proud of your dreams, my little astronaut. Pursuing a dream like this requires hard work, dedication, and a strong education in math, science and engineering. Are you ready for the challenges?

Son: Absolutely, Mom! I'm determined to work hard with my studies. I want to learn everything I can about space and what it takes to become an astronaut.

Mom: That's the spirit, my future astronaut!

Son: I've also been reading about the costs associated with becoming an astronaut. Training and education can be quite expensive, and space missions are even more so. I read somewhere that the education cost varies from Rs 4 lacs to 12 lacs*.

Mom: That's true, my dear. Speaking of investment, let me test your math skills, If the cost of avionics and Aeronautical engineering today is Rs 12 Lacs and suppose you would be studying engineering after 6 years, what would be the future cost? Considering cost of education rises by 10% per year.

Son: That’s easy Mom, it would be approx. ~Rs 21 lacs**.

Mom: That’s great beta. We knew we had to plan today for your future education. Hence, your Dad and I planned for your engineering 6 years back when we saw your interest in lego/construction
blocks, stars and computers and started a SIP in a Children's Gift Fund. So, don’t worry beta, you focus on your studies.

Son: Thank you Mom. I will work hard towards making my dream a reality.

Mom: You're welcome, sweetheart. Remember, the earlier we start saving and investing, the more we can benefit from the power of compounding. Starting early allows your money to grow over
time, thanks to the magic of compounding, which has a snowball effect that could help you achieve your financial goals faster.

Son: I understand, Mom. It's amazing how starting early can have such a big impact on achieving our dreams. I'll keep working hard and saving for my dream of becoming an astronaut.

Mom: That's the spirit, my future astronaut! Keep dreaming big, working hard, and with the power of compounding on our side, we'll reach for the stars together.

As the conversation ended, the room seemed to resonate with the warmth and determination of this mother-son duo. Their shared dream of reaching for the stars was not just a fanciful desire; it was grounded in the principles of hard work, financial planning, and the power of compounding. They discussed the importance of starting early, investing regularly and investing in a solution oriented mutual fund such as Children’s Fund. With a sense of purpose and a deep bond of love, they would continue their journey, step by step, towards the dream of becoming an astronaut, armed with the valuable knowledge that financial planning may make the impossible possible.
