HDFC Charity Fund for Cancer Cure (Feb 2030)

About HDFC Charity Fund for Cancer Cure (Feb 2030)

HDFC Charity Fund for Cancer Cure (Feb 2030) is a Fixed Maturity Plan (close‑ended income scheme with a tenure of 1169 days) designed to support underprivileged cancer patients. The fund enables investors to channel a part of their Income Distribution cum Capital Withdrawal (IDCW) into treatment assistance, in partnership with the Indian Cancer Society (ICS), one of India’s oldest NGOs dedicated to cancer care

Unlike conventional schemes that focus primarily on wealth creation, this Fund blends investing with giving. It invests in debt and money market instruments as well as Government Securities, aiming to generate income over its tenure. Investors can choose to donate a portion of their income distribution to ICS, which uses the contribution to support cancer treatment for patients who cannot afford it.

HDFC AMC charges no investment management and advisory fee on the Scheme (nominal base expense of about 3 basis points will be charged), and HDFC AMC will match investor donations, subject to a limit of Rs 16 crore per financial year, aiming to achieve that contribution to ICS is effectively doubled. It is benchmarked against the NIFTY Medium Duration Debt Index A-III.

What is HDFC Charity Fund for Cancer Cure (Feb 2030)

HDFC Charity Fund for Cancer Cure (Feb 2030) is a Mutual Fund scheme that lets you combine a debt investment with a charitable contribution in a single product. It is a close-ended scheme, which means units are offered only during the New Fund Offer (NFO) period and the Scheme runs for a fixed term of 1,169 days before it matures.

During the tenure of the scheme, Income Distribution cum Capital Withdrawal (IDCW) is declared in the usual manner. What differentiates this Fund is your upfront commitment, through a one-time mandate (OTM), to donate either 50% or 75% of the IDCW to the Indian Cancer Society. Maturity proceeds will come to you at the end of the tenure. In effect, you contribute only from the income your investment generates, while your investment stays with you.

How it works

  1. You invest: Subscribe during the NFO and complete a one‑time donation mandate, choosing to donate either 50% or 75% of your IDCW to the Indian Cancer Society (ICS).
  2. The Fund invests: Your investment is deployed in debt, money market instruments and Government Securities with the objective of generating income. The Scheme will endeavour to declare IDCW at regular intervals.
  3. Income is shared: As IDCW is disbursed, HDFC AMC will advise ICS of the donation amount based on your selected option (50% or 75%) and gross IDCW. ICS then initiates the debit of the advised amount. HDFC AMC will match this donation, subject to limit of Rs 16 crore per financial year.
  4. Maturity proceeds return to you: Upon maturity, the redemption amount is paid back to you.

The Indian Cancer Society (ICS), founded in 1951, is one of India’s oldest NGOs dedicated to cancer care. It leads initiatives across awareness, early detection, treatment, and patient support. Treatment assistance is provided to underprivileged patients through a network of empanelled hospitals, with each case undergoing review by an independent governing council supported by a due‑diligence process.
