Your Investments, Verified — HDFC Mutual Fund valid UPI
What is a UPI ID?
UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is a real-time payment system that allows investors to make secure and instant payments directly from their bank account to mutual funds account. The payment can be made either by using a UPI ID or by scanning a QR code of mutual funds.
What is a Validated UPI ID?
The UPI IDs of the mutual funds, ends with @valid handle followed by bank name, and are validated by SEBI.
Why does a UPI ID need to be “valid” for mutual fund transactions?
In recent years, several unregistered entities have misled investors by collecting funds without proper authorization and diverting these amounts for personal gain.
To proactively curb such fraudulent activities, SEBI has introduced a new framework that helps investors easily verify UPI handles of legitimate SEBI‑registered market intermediaries and make payments to them in a secure and efficient manner.
As part of this initiative and to address the growing issue of impersonation while strengthening investor confidence, SEBI has introduced a structured UPI handle mechanism for SEBI-registered investor-facing intermediaries to collect funds from their investors.
What is SEBI’s Framework on @Valid UPI Handle?
In accordance with the SEBI Circular dated June 11, 2025 (as amended), all SEBI-registered intermediaries including Mutual Funds, Brokers and Portfolio Management Services are required to use standardized and validated UPI IDs. For further details, please refer to the SEBI Circular dated June 11, 2025.
How Do Validated UPI Handle Work?
Each intermediary must provide a UPI ID in the format: username.suffix@valid (e.g.,xyz.mf@validicici) i.e. username will be as per their presence in respective segment of markets followed by an abbreviation representing their intermediary segment.
The username is paired with a bank-linked handle such as @validhdfc
All validated UPI IDs display a white thumbs-up icon inside a green triangle, indicating a verified account.
What is the transaction limit for UPI?
Since UPI is a retail product, National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has set the transaction limit for capital market transactions.
UPI payments for investments are subject to a daily limit of up to ₹5 lakhs, depending on the bank or payment application.
