SIP and Save water!!

‘Silicon Valley of India’, ‘Tech-hub’, ‘Garden city of India’, ‘a vibrant city with a pleasant climate’ etc. have been some of the ways to describe the beautiful city of Bengaluru. Over the past few months though, the city has become synonymous with an acute water crisis. It is not too often that you hear the terms gated communities and water tankers in a single sentence. However, such has been the extent of crisis that water tanker providers have been as sought after as Coders and Tech consultants in the tech capital of India.

Once dotted by lakes and forest cover, 93% of the city has lost its lake and forest cover to concrete and construction. Bengaluru has lost 79% of its water cover and 88% of its green cover over 4 decades according to the Indian Institute of Science. Unusually high temperatures due to El-Nino have just compounded the problem. Interestingly, this is not a city specific challenge, but just a more recent example of water crisis. This is a challenge faced by many countries across the globe as the world grapples with deforestation, rapid urbanisation, global warming, environmental degradation, rapid depletion of groundwater etc.

While the oncoming monsoon could provide a panacea to this crisis, it is wise to remember Winston Churchill’s words – ‘Never let a good crisis go to waste’. With an enhanced focus on this topic, it is imperative that all stakeholders take steps in the right direction.

On the occasion of ‘The World Environment Day’ and in continuation of our #NurtureNature Campaign (which is in its 4th Year), we have decided to do our bit by promising to revive a lake. For every digitally registered SIP (5th to 11th June  2024), 5000 litres of water capacity will be restored in the lake on the investor’s behalf.  All open-ended equity oriented and Gold / Silver Funds with minimum SIP amount of Rs. 2500 and minimum tenure of 3 years will be eligible for this campaign during the period 5th June to 11th June, 2024. What’s equally noteworthy is that this campaign puts the spotlight on water crisis and creates awareness around water conservation.
