Missed investing in Gold & Silver on Akshay Tritiya? Don’t worry! Every day is an auspicious day for investing!

We associate auspicious days like Akshaya Tritiya with purchasing gold and silver to bring good luck, prosperity and success. But did you know, apart from its use to make jewellery, gold and silver have the potential to add shine to your portfolio as well?

Gold helps in diversifying and adding balance to your portfolio. Since FY2000, gold has outperformed equities in financial years where equities had a negative return (see table below)! It also serves as a hedge against unforeseen geopolitical events and a buffer against currency depreciation.

Past performance may or may not be sustained in future and is not a guarantee of any future returns. HDFC AMC/Mutual Fund is not guaranteeing or promising or forecasting any returns.

Similar to gold, silver has similar uses for portfolio diversification and hedge against currency depreciation. However, silver also has considerable use as an industrial metal in new age technologies including Electric Vehicles (EVs) and solar panels. This makes it an attractive investment.

So while Akshay Tritiya is an auspicious day to invest in gold and silver, why wait solely for this day to invest?

What are Gold ETFs and FOFs?

A Gold Exchange Traded Fund or ETF is a mutual fund scheme that collects money from investors and invests in gold and gold-related instruments. It is passively managed and the returns are more or less aligned to the price of gold. Each unit of the scheme represents 0.01 gram of physical gold that is 99.5% pure.
